PROJECT OVERVIEW
Surf Smart

A vital digital safety initiative that equips girls with the critical knowledge needed to navigate the internet and online platforms safely. In an increasingly connected world, the program directly addresses the digital risks that shape the modern adolescent experience—including online harassment, cyberbullying, and forms of digital exploitation that frequently intersect with gender-based violence.

The curriculum delivers highly practical digital safety skills in a format that is fully accessible to girls, regardless of their prior technology experience. Participants learn how to recognize online manipulation, protect their personal data and privacy settings, and effectively report harmful content or unwanted contact. By demystifying the digital landscape, the program transforms the internet from a space of vulnerability into a tool for safe exploration and learning.

Surf Smart sits alongside our Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention and Mental Health initiatives as a core pillar of TGGA's broader Stop the Violence campaign. This positioning recognizes that safety today can no longer be defined solely by physical environments. By extending protection into the digital spaces that girls increasingly occupy, the program ensures that our members are fully empowered to protect their well-being both online and offline.
