PROJECT OVERVIEW
Gender-Based Violence (GBV)

Gender-Based Violence (GBV) Prevention is a cornerstone of TGGA’s broader Stop the Violence campaign, designed to equip girls with the critical knowledge needed to recognize, resist, and report all forms of violence. Rather than utilizing a one-size-fits-all approach, the curriculum is intentionally adapted to the specific communities where it runs. This localized framing ensures the program effectively supports girls facing deeply entrenched social norms just as effectively as those operating in environments where violence is acknowledged but severely underreported.

The core curriculum provides an honest, comprehensive look at the various forms GBV takes, including physical, psychological, sexual, and economic abuse. Girls are introduced to both community-led and legal reporting mechanisms, gaining a realistic understanding of how to navigate these systems safely. By addressing these sensitive topics directly and without filtering, the program demystifies the pathways to safety and empowers participants with practical protection strategies.

The impact of the program extends far beyond the classroom through a sustainable advocacy model. Older members who complete the training graduate to become community-level advocates and peer educators. These young leaders work directly with local schools, community hubs, and parent groups to establish stronger child protection protocols, while actively serving as trusted bridge-builders who connect affected girls with professional support and response services.
